The Mayans also believed that if they didn't rip the hearts out children, the sun would stop shining.

@anonymousman555 The 'aztecs' did predict the spanish and their knowledge would have been part of the same overall similar system the maya used. They prophecised that the spanish would come in the year 'One Reed' of a 52-year calendar cycle. In 1519, a 'One Reed' year, a fair-skinned stranger lands on the east coast. The Aztecs welcome him as Quetzalcoatl. He is the Spanish conquistador Cortes.

@metallica67ful - goddam you are stupid. in fact people like you solve the puzzle my other comment just refered to - the aztecs couldn't have fathomed anyone as dumb as you could possibly exist, just like anyone sane couldn't - unitl they actually see hear or read your kind. so they weren't prepared to defend against such an inexplicable nightmare.

Actually it was the Aztecs who encountered the Spanish conquistadors. At that point in time the Mayan civilization had been long gone! Besides, the only predictions the Maya ever make with their calenders are positions of planets, stars, and other space stuff. They never predicted the end of the world or any other doomsday crap.

If the Mayan's are right in this prediction to the exact date, why couldn't they predict the Spanish?
