The lady should be paid. I like the Supreme Court as an institution and wonder if its founders had Plato's Republic in mind.  Plato had more faith in appointments based on merit than elections (based on popularity). But he also believed in gender equality. He lived over 2300 years aog and would still appear to be ahead of our time.

EVERY place I've worked women were paid the same as men. In fact, a lot of times women did way less work and got paid the same or even more. Just drive down a road that's having construction work done and see who's holding the traffic signs and who's doing the grunt work with the jackhammers and shovels! And what about women living 7 or 8 years longer than men, does this old bitty consider that?! It was old bags from the '70s that went on TV shows spreading this shit. RememberDr. Joyce Brothers?

Do you know whether or not those males negotiated their pay? Did you? I've read that men are 4 times more likely than women to negotiate their salaries and this explains some of the pay differences between men and women.

Equal rights means Equal Pay for Equal Work. And management has no right to forbid workers from discussing how much each of them gets paid. If management just paid everyone what they're actually worth, these situations wouldn't happen.

Your degrees mean SH¡T. Many "educated" individuals have graduated to stupidity, all I got from this is that workers should NEVER discuss pay. This is why companies pay so low, someones pusy's in a bunch and she's going to court, bring it to the overreaching govt. Womens' rights is a fkn farce. Equal rights is what this country recognizes and has gotten away from!

I'm glad there is more attention paid to this case because the same thing happened to me. Only in my case I am 39 and the company is based in Chicago, a "blue" state. I have a masters and experience and was doing the same job as my male coworkers. All of them were making more, including recent grads. When I would complain I was told "they needed more" or even "They work harder". All lies because I worked more hours than them. Discrimination is alive and well.
