A giant squid is caught on camera attacking an ROV (underwater vehicle remotely operated from a vessel) at around 1650feet water depth in the Gulf of Mexico. The ROV hydraulic arm made an attempt to nudge the squid away but it held on firmly to its target until it gave up and left.

  • giant squids have 2 big ass i think 10 ft long tentacles so that can't b it and also it looks kinda small

  • This is a humboldt, not an Architeuthis dux.

  • I love how it gets pulled away by something i noticed no camera view for that part they probably killed it bastards:(

  • This is a species called Taningia Danae

  • Its brill watching people go down to the very deep bus there like 'oh new creature oh another new creature' so fuckin funny!

  • Either that's a young giant or that's one big Humboldt. Or perhaps it's something else after all our knowledge of the deep is very limited.

  • It is a T. dane the fins are very large and there are no feeding tentacles.

  • lol

    Mechanical arm *poke* *poke*.

And not a single fuck was given that day.

  • No way that's a giant squid.
