  • Hermoso video !. Gracias por publicarlo

  • I just love how Levine conducts the opening music to Traviata after the Overture..its sbrisk, bright and lively..just perfect, This was a great production of Traviata at the Met in '81 with Domingo, Contrubas & Mcneil. Contrubas was a bit underpowered vocally but otherwise a fine singer and skilled actress on stage. It's nice to see how they made the opera as a labor of love, lots of work goes into making opera

  • @31operafan This was in '81 for a Metropolitan Opera Traviata with James Levine conducting. Ileana Contrubas as Violetta & Cornell Mcneil as Germont. The entire performance is on Youtube! I have it on my Favorites list, tell me if you get to see it, it's wonderful!!

  • When was this? He looks so much younger. Must be the 1970s or early 1980s.

  • I loved the beginning, where Domingo was jogging to his rehearsal. Exercise is important for an opera singer, because some forms of exercise strengthen the lungs and diaphragm.

  • I absolutely adore James Levine in this. :-) Thanks for sharing, wansob.

  • Thanks! :)

  • If I'm not mistaken, it is Joan Dornemann, a coach from the Met.
