  • no longer have the motor sold it with my old 83 blazer. Its a good little motor, sure its no 400 but those 400's have those retarded siamese heads on them sure you can swap them but there also externally balance etc, but still gret motors, had one in the school race car and it ran a 5.473 on a 1/8th mile run numerous times, it was the only motor i had and didnt feel like scrapping it and spending more money on a 350 so i built this

  • 305's arent all that slow. 350's are quicker, yes. but a v6 is a dog. the 305 is far better than the average v6

  • @ad356

I couldn't agree more dude. I have a FWD v6 Infiniti I-30, and I just have to say my '84 Camaro with a 305 has MUCH more get up.

  • why didnt you just turn up the idel on the carb?

  • @Texassince1836 The 305 and 350 rotating assemblys have different bob weights which effects the crank balance. The 350 heads will fit if you dont go past 94, but you lower the compression ratio a lot with the common 64 cc and 76cc is really out of the question unless your running a boost. The hoged 416's will raise a 350 up but likely will crack .Shaved 186's with 1:94 are about as strong as one could go on a 305 mid range torque curve. It all about moving air at high rpm.

  • the 305 makes decent power for its size with vortec heads 300hp and tpi made 240hp in 80s pretty good back then the 350 only had about an extra 10hp and 40 foot pounds more torque but it made power in midrange more

  • @Texassince1836 sure there is, forced induction will more than make up for displacement! haha

But yes you're right about the valves, but to be completely honest a 350 doesnt make much more power than say a 305 HO like what i have in my Z28 in stock trim... its just all about what you like, build your car however you like it, nobody else opinion should matter if your happy with it.

  • @Texassince1836 COULDNT AGREE MORE MY FRIEND :)

  • @84k20BB yeah, the 4.3 v6 is just a 350 missin 2 cylinders

  • @ad356 305's are good with torque. i would respect one if someone stroked it with the crank from a 400, and built the hell out of it...till then, its 350 and 383 all the way

  • @egrocksyourworld28 just 350? shoot for 383, its a 350 bored by 60 with a 400 crank...

  • @Uknowmetom yes, but you cant bore a 305 out to a 4 inch bore, because the water jackets are different on both motors. the 262, 265, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, 355, 377, 383, and 400 all share the same block
