Personal mentoring is provided by young Christian adults who volunteer through CERI and assume the role of friend, advisor and supporter. They build strong relationships and offer support and guidance through the youths transition to adulthood. Mentors are carefully selected from local churches and trained to be actively involved in the young persons life.
Social assistance is offered by trained case managers to all young adults in the program. CERI case managers meet on a daily basis and offer help and guidance and keep in touch with families, schools and local authorities. The case manager intervenes in any crisis situation or emergency, and encourages the successful integration of the young adult into society.
The Circle of Support is an integral part of transitional living. Those included in a youths circle may include relatives, teachers, social workers, friends, representatives of the local community and anyone interested in the life and success of the youth. Members of the circle of support meet periodically to discuss the successes and challenges facing the young adult, and assess current needs and establish goals for the future.
Financial support for the transitional living program includes a small, monthly scholarship from CERI for youths to use toward medical assistance, clothes, shoes, tuition fees, etc. Financial assistance is offered only after a young persons needs are assessed, and is based on the recommendations of a CERI social worker. The beneficiary has the obligation to report how the money was spent.
Thanks for this quality presentation of the CERI work and need in Moldova. These children are such precious beings created by God. Hopefully all will soon have a sponsor who will love and pray and provide hope for them.
