OFSET Press Conference (short version)

Osaka Fu Special English Teachers (OFSET) Union started in 1994 to secure jobs for native English teachers and improve English education in Osaka.

We are currently fighting to keep our jobs with the Governor of Osaka Fu, Toru Hashimoto. His idea of improving education seems to be to lay off workers and to cut teachers' pay.

From July 31, 2008, he is recommending to cut 10 to 20 percent of all teachers' pay and to cut the following staff: librarians and foreign language teachers, science laboratory assistants, home-economics assistants, and copy-room staff.
