@missp2513 I believe you're right about that. I have locs (16 years now) and have had 4 children during that time and my hair is not as tightly coiled as it was before.

Hair pattern and texture can also change with hormonal changes in the body. My step mom had completely straight hair as a child & teenager but after having 2 kids she now has a loose curl to her hair...my aunt that is going through menopause and now her texture has loosen quite a bit as compared to when she was younger. I believe there was actually a study published on this a few years ago linking hair pattern to hormone levels.
