Dream Theater - As I Am Solo (Stephen Platt of Collibus)

Stephen Platt (me) playing the solo from the song As I Am by Dream Theater. What else is there to say apart from whoops when i slid off the fretboard at the end haha!

The guitar used in this video is an RG7621 (yep a 7 string) but tuned to C standard which is the actual tuning of the song As I Am. The 7th string is a low G but it doesn't really matter since its not being used in the video.

is there a big difference between the rg1527 and the rg7621?

@xDannyDeathcorex Not really except for one has a trem and one is a fixed bridge. The neck is a little different and I prefer the RG1527 but they are both great guitars

@Arvobravo ah thanks man! i have an rg7621 with evolutions in it.. sounds amazing! I'm going to get the rg1527 in royal blue while I can still get it.. I'm not sure which pickups I'll slam in it.. I'm considering a Dimarzio x2n and blackouts. you have blackouts in your rg1527 right? what's your experience?

oh and btw do you guys already have an album? I want to be the first one to buy one!!!:D

@xDannyDeathcorex Yep i have Blackouts, to be honest I used to be a passive pickup fan, still am in a way but something about the Blackouts makes it feel like i'm using passive pickups feel wise but obviously they are active. Mainly got them because i wanted tone consistency between my RG1527 and RG2228 as i put blackouts in that also and got rid of the damn EMG 808's which was in it. Vast improvement to the EMGs but i'm really enjoying the tone i get with the blackouts.

i've been tryig it, but when it gets to the groupings of 7 or 5 i fuck up big time (0:27 to about 0:34)

Cheers, and nope i don't have the tab book or use tab. I use my ears to learn as i have perfect pitch, something i've done since i started playing really.
