A few short clips of Rick Parks accompanying the John Ford silent film "3 Bad Men" on the theater's 3/26 Wurlitzer.
Obviously my intent was not to capture the whole performance (it was well over an hour) but to show what an audience member's experience is like.
Rick is amazingly skilled at doing silents in all their variations and themes and goes non-stop all the way through, doing both appropriate music and sound effects. It's a fun experience, for sure.
I was dissapointed with performance of my Canon TX-1 in the lobby... lots of noise and streaking, but suprisingly it captured the projection screen as well as the instrument's sound very well with its built-in stereo microphones.
My sweetie and I were THERE for this, as we are for almost every silent-movie presentation at the fabulous Elsinore.
Great job capturing a bit of what it's like to see a silent film properly presented in a great movie palace with live theatre-organ accompaniment blazing away!!

Cool! We'll have to meet up some time. I was sitting about 6 rows back, which seems to be near the 'sweet spot' for hearing the instrument at its best. I was trying to record discretely without being a nuisance or distraction(I asked Rick earlier about recording and he said it was okay).
