Actually, the Dropkick Murphys are an American Band based in Boston, Massachusetts (hence the song name "I'm shipping off to Boston") What exactly made you think it was an Irish? The accordion? It also has a banjo in it which is certanly not Irish. And its actually quite a good song if you would take the time to listen to more than the soundbite presented by the AFL. Maybe you would prefer Guy Sabastian to do the song for the AFL? You know, man it up a little...
As if further proof were needed that the AFL has lost the plot! What an imbecilic commercial! I watched this ad a thousand times this year and cannot fathom what the fuck is going on - It makes as much sense as a team from West Sydney! It was probably disgustingly expensive to produce, and the distinctly Irish music for an Australian game is the icing on an already confused cake!
P.S. But at least it wasn't as bad as the 'Septopia' ads.
I thought that it was pretty clear. It shows that AFL has the appeal of some of the biggest sports in the world. Perhaps you should just limit yourself to watching 'fisher-price' ads if you want something a little easier to understand.
