I think you will be able improvise with no problem once you get the mechanics of the instrument to a comfortable performance level. Clarke Studies!! Also when improvosing sing what you want to play then learn it on your instrument. This will give you a foundation to start from.

Im not an old experienced jazz trumpeteer or anything but when you play jazz the two big things i guess would be
Feel what your playing [play from your heart rather than your head]
and
Confidence [Play like every note is perfect even if it isn't]
I'm not saying you did bad by any means. better than most but its...its improvisation it is what you make it. and if you make it confident and fun people will respond.
