An advert for milk from the early 90's, it was shown on various Irish & British television stations during that time. It is known for the odd and out-of-place wooden man thing.

Absolutely ludicrous advert. Whoever decided that an oversized male wooden lay figure had anything to do with milk whatsoever should never be allowed to work in advertising again.

Why didn't they have someone in a cow suit or something instead?

The wooden man is pretty rigid with just a few connecting pieces, compared to the kids with their many extra bones

Not only do I not understand why people would be so opposed to the random & bizarre, but how they could not understand that this really wasn't

I always found this ad a little disturbing, like that giant wooden figure was going to extract the calcium from their bones ala something you'd see on the x-files but then I was/am a bit odd :)
