If there was a "WOW THIS IS SO EPIC" button, it would be pressed.

3 more years till hoverboards, we can do it.

I don't understand why we can't just construct a metamaterial to emulate the same effect but in room temperature?
-
wow, I just threw away like 40 saffire wafers because they were covered with yaitti barrium...
-
ok. now tell me where to buy one:D

you just BLEW MY MIND!

I'm currently doing a project on this phenomenon, would you happen to know the math behind it? such as the calculations to how much electric potential energy there is and other physics behind it? please respond >.< 5-10 page report due in 4 days

my question is there a way for it to handle a person’s wait or a way to stop it pulse will all ways have to be on a track and won’t go off it? Dam maybe with a small motor for the air and control and a dozen of though disks changed by the magnets, how to keep them cold. I just want a hover board in my life time please tell me it’s possible to make toughs disks to support wait or to be evened by the force of channeled air.

@Baulderan I had the same idea (as I have the sapphire wafers already). However, I decided against it in the end--the most difficult part would be depositing an YBCO film of the necessary (rather small) thickness evenly and with good alignment. I expect that finding the right process conditions to achieve this would be quite time-consuming and you'll go through a lot of expensive wafers trying.
Now explain the invisibility cloak!

Do they really need to call it quantum?
Claerti 4 months ago 18
@Claerti The 'quantum' bit refers to the size of the flux-tubes (the tiny bits of magnetic field which leak through), which are on the subatomic scale. Plus, it sounds cool.

I'm currently reading "Uglies" so now I'm really going to be obsessed with hoverboarding.

@marionhoney I may or may not have watched Back to the Future Part II after first watching that video.
