@han12180 Yeah, they're real. They're a certain type of rice that has been cooked, then mashed into a dense waxy paste. The resulting paste is very versatile, as you can see. Interesting concept, isn't it?

@sakhalin12 rice cakes are eaten both in Japan and Korea. Very soft ones (mochi) are made more in Japan and Korea makes more firm, chewy ones

@k3m1ATL well some are sweet (they're called chapssal - stickier rice cake) and normal white rice cakes are more chewy and savory/less sweet as they don't have much sugar in them
