@johnnytwice I have to agree with you here, Lydon was to music as the Edsel is to the automotive world, ahead of the times. I remember listening to P.I.L. in the '80's and liking it, but now, in my 30's I dust off the cd's and LP's and listen again, and the music slaps me in the face, almost calling out "dumbass, you listened to me before, but now you are LISTENING to me."

Actually a lot of PiL fans hated every album after "Rise" for the same reason you mentioned. "Happy?", "9" and "That What Is Not" all had the same basic style as this. Personally I loved the change of pace...if you go thru PiL's entire catalogue of music you can easily detect 4 distinct styles (most people say 3, but I give "Flowers of Romance" its own category).

Yeah, now this song is classic, but I'd like to remind, it wasn't in 80s. Many PIL fans despised Warrior for its electro-disco-house beat. Well, almost no one has heard of techno...

I was born after popular music stopped being good

I'm 37, I work in a cubicle, my life is boring....and yet.....thanks to Mr. Lydon I can shout at the top of my lungs:
"I'M A WARRIOR!!!!" (followed by awesome keytar refrain)

This may be one of Lydon's greatest Lyrically, and no guitar solo, just McGeoch's riffing all the way thru and the synth build up and the Chorus of Lydon , Great, Pop-Punk Shamans
