I actualy like how assef is portrayed. I hate what he does to Hassan and sorab, but I like how psychotic and unstable his charicter is. Would be interesting to find a book with a main character with the same characteristics . Minus the child molesting and rapist tendencies.

This story is so sad, but somehow disturbingly beautiful.

Hassan is the type of friend one finds once in a lifetime: he protects you, he stands by you whatever the consequences, he stand up for you when you're weak and he's always there. I wish there was like a different way they did the movie. Like maybe in a dream or before he died, Amir could travel back and stop what Ass-ef did to Hassan.

I read the rape scene, it was so horrifyingly disturbing. it's even scarier to know that men and boys actually do that (to each other)
