The video paused exactly at "they couldn't hit an elephant at this dist-"

@LiliPwnz He worked at Booklist magazine and as a chaplain in a children's hospital. I think the best thing to do is to just try to get jobs that interest you or that will help you in your writing, and then continue to write.

I cannot play this; I've yet to read your books due to the fact that each semester I have about 25 books mandatory to read (not that I don't love reading!) but you're on my list!~ At the top, in fact. You beat out Tolkien and Tamora Pierce.

@LiliPwnz Well John himself had always ambitioned to be a young adult writer out of college, but he stated in a separate video that his first book was constructed in free time, his job at that same time was a writer/editor of a literature-based magazine. His book took super revising, help from many people, and he needed someone to give him a chance to make it work. In summation, writing cannot begin as something to be sustained by, it has to begin as something that you want to do. Hope it helps

John!
I have question about life.
I want to be an author when i grow up, but I'm kind of stressing about what life will be like immediately out of college. How do you pay the bills before you've gotten a publisher to look at your book? I know they give advances, but is that enough to survive on for however many months you struggle finishing your book? What did you do? Did you have other jobs while you wrote?
