The Fourth Movement of Beethoven's famous Symphony No.5. It seems like a triumphant allegro and yet the triumph is undermined with the return the scherzo (3rd movement) melody.

The relentless pounding at the end, in C major, sounds like a shadow of what Beethoven could have written - it seems as though the ending is a parody of triumph rather than the real thing

  • The second movement isn't the scherzo.

  • @paTRICK12358 Thanks for pointing out my error for the Scherzo theme - I've re-written it as the 3rd movement.
