Reading , PA Fire Department response from Engine 13. The Engine is responding from 8th and Court firehouse to a confirmed structure fire in the alley behind the 300 block of S. 8th St. First set of footage is from Dash Cam of E-13, then the footage come from E-13 crewman helmet cam. Getting water on the fire was delayed due to the location of the fire. Attack lines had to be hand jacked from the street through the alley to the fire location. An exterior attack was initiated due to the location being flagged as an unsafe building. Fire was contained to the initial structures on fire.

The hose doesn't get to the fire by itself. If you listen to the film you will see that the chief ask for the 2 1/2 down the alley with a gated wye. This fire required a lot of hand jacking of hose. First from the primary attack hose (front of house) then down an alley from a second engine to the gun in the rear of the building. The down side of the helmet cam is that it was pointed slightly to the left so the view was slightly off center.

  • Fire Cam

It is a first generation FC3.

It is an ok cam. A little difficult to get going due to the small button. Also I had to take it apart because the button got stuck from fire debris. The aluminum cap stripped out so I can only get it on about 2 threads. Battery life is OK. If you got money burning a hole in your pocket, it is light. and it does take all right video. I hope that helps.

Their next generation might be a little better.
