Senator Stabenow urged the CEOs of the Big Five oil companies to admit that they no longer need billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies. The heads of the country's five largest oil companies later testified before the Finance Committee.
Got to be careful, when voting out Senator Stab-Me-Now, that we choose carefully the candidate to replace her with. We really need a person who understands business, and what helps business succeed - which is the government to GTHO of the way! and stop hobbling and shackling innovators, and quit referring to the tax write-offs that every corporation uses, as "Subsidies," I wonder, does she think we're fooled by wordsmithing? Use your bux, Deb, to buy a clue. Enjoy retirement, Stab-Me-Now!
This is not to say the 2012 election is not survivable; however, you must come down off Schumer‘s knee and stop parroting. Demonstrate leadership, original thought, and courage. .. Renounce your vote on Obamacare, the brick on the small business man’s back. Michiganders despise this government yoke. Endorse Orrin’s Hatch constitutional amendment for a balanced budget…
Debbie… What worked before works no longer. Be real… Choose not the party but the people
Your problem is not misunderstanding “cause and effect” of energy prices. Your problem is that the average Michigander understands it quite well; high unemployment, high utility prices, and high gas prices clears the mind considerably… and 2012 approaches.
Energy prices for the most part is simply supply and demand. In 2008 When you demagogued against Bush, oil companies, and fuel prices, gas was a 1.90 a gallon. Since then, you and Obama have said no to drilling in ANWR, no to drilling offshore, and yes to EPA’s tyrannical imposition of CAP and Trade. .. All while Energy Secretary Chu enthusiastically pronounces “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe."
Perhaps this whole thing is just a chance for you to play partisan politics.
Recently Time Magazine “Editor at Large” Mark Halperin, called President Obama a DICK. (Demagogic inflammatory Clueless Knucklehead), concerning his recent railing against corporate jets, a classless attempt at class warfare. I believe you are acting like a DICK also, tis either that, or your math skills are very very poor.
Ryan’s plan is a legitimat attempt to make Medicare survivable. And Joe Liebermann, a serious senator, has most recently joined him with his own staid plan. Yours on the other hand… I mean the accounting is just not very good… Run the numbers and you will see what I mean.
You infer that by, ending the four billion dollar annual subsidy to oil companies (which until most recently you supported), we can begin to get control of the trillion dollar plan which is Medicare, federal budget deficits exceeding 1.5 trillion and begin to wrestle with the 14.3 trillion dollar Federal debt (growing at 4 billion per day)… all while renewing your support for a 5.5 billion dollar a year Bio-fuel subsidy (37.5% greater than the one you propose to end).
