These addax represent the last of their kind in the Sahara. There are less than 300 addax left in the wild. Two thirds of those addax are found in the Termit/Tin Toumma region of Niger, where the Saint Louis Zoo has partnered with Sahara Conservation Fund, the Republic of Niger, and the Convention on Migratory Species to try and establish a reserve for this vanishing species.

For more information on the Saint Louis Zoo's conservation programs, visit http://www.stlzoo.org/wildcareinstitute.
