Is there any way to export one of these? I'm so jealous! I'd love to have material like this to work with!
At what size does the tree take that shape at the bottom?

John..Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Let me kinda see if these steps would sound good to you:
#1 collect cypress in a similar fashion to your video
#2 HD mortar mix plastic container (with drain holes)
#3 Flatten root base to sit up straight
#4 Fafford 3B mix
#5 water everyday
#6 (FERTILIZER recommendations and when to start ?)
#7 Keep in mortar container for about 3 years

I collect Rocky Mountain Junper...this was quite a different experience...I want to express my appreciation for the time you put into it. Beautiful tress btw.
-Also..if I plant some cypress that has lower branches and green growth , can I expect this to dry up and wither (the growth that is ?)
Thanks Again...It's really important to me. Dave

@flamarko Absolutely...it should wither and then in a few weeks new green buds will appear.

Hi John.
I have an opportunity on a friends private residence here in south florida to collect several bald cypress (about 5) within the next several months before the land is cleared for a new structure. My dilemma is that I must collect them before the end of the summer (it's now May 24).

@flamarko I have read all the same things and talked with folks like Gary Marchal about this topic and my experiences differ significantly from theirs so don't believe everything you read...including what I write:) In my experience if you are talking about large trees I don't think you will have any problems at all...I collected 30 trees in July last year...all but 3 survived and are doing well...the 3 that didn't make were the smallest ones. the container needs holes to drain!

I followed your videos instructions on collecting cypress and yesterday harvested my first tree from the swamps here in Fl. I wanted to know about how long before the tree decides to sprout new growth, so I can have a rough estimate on when I know if I killed the tree or if it will live. Thanks!

@booie8585 Congrats! It usually takes about 3 weeks for the first buds to show up and sometimes as long as 6. Keep your tree wet and you should be fine. You are south of me but I typically prefer to wait a little later in the season for collecting but you should be fine.
