For those wondering, they made the children in the show older because of the child pornography laws. Many sexual/nudity scenes in the books had children as people were having sex and giving birth a lot younger in medieval times than they do now. HBO were faced with the choice to either omit all sexual scenes with the children or age them. HBO went with the latter as to stay faithful to the story.

Apparently "The Others" have been renamed "The White Walkers" for the HBO adaptation. This preview is all I have seen of the show, but from what i can tell it is mostly correct.

@faithcabigting because he deserted the Night's Watch, it used to be an honor to work at the Night's Watch and there were like 20 (haven't read the books in a while so cant remember the exact number) outposts along the wall with thousands of people manning it but now theres only 3 and it's basically a place for outcast's and criminal's, when a criminal commits a crime they get the option to go to the Night's Watch but they are not allowed to leave, that's why the boy was beheaded.
