A great band the Icicle Works, The Church had a similar fate, yes they should have been up there with the likes of REM, who struggled but eventually pulled it off

Called my daughter Evangeline too in honour of this record. It just makes me happy! Had to wait a bloody long time though - she was born in 2005!!!!

my daughter was named "Evangeline" after this song, it's one of the greatest records ever, and the icicle works we're lost legends, shame on us mere mortals for not making them as big as the beatles. and look at the competition they had at the time! stock aitken and waterman and bloody kajagoogoo! they should have been HUGE!!!! but why the hell did the guitar solo in this get mixed down to nothing on the finished single???
