Okay, so...I was graduating from an Ivy League school, and after 4 years of everyone in my world telling me to "relax, by the time you graduate you'll know EXACTLY what you want to do"...I was in a panic. I still had NO idea...but I loved to use different accents and voices, and changed the outgoing message on my answering machine almost daily with some funny impression or 60-second comedy routine. I went to the Career Center on campus and I said, "I want some kind of career where I can make money using my funny accents and dialects and voices...do you guys know what that might be?" (Insert LOTS of blank stare and silence here :). "Ummmm, no." So much for the power of an Ivy career center, LOL! Several years later, I happily discovered the world of Voice Over. If you are reading this and have no idea what a voice over is, write me and I'll post a fun and funny detailed description (the Cliff-Notes Version is that any time you listen to the radio and hear a commercial, Voice Over. Books on tape? Voice Over. Watching any kind of image where you DON'T see the person talking? Voice Over. Animated television and film? Voice Over. You get the drift.) This was my very first whack at recording a demo. I had NO idea what I was doing and no idea yet of whom to ask, so I just thought I'd play around and see how it came out! As a result, this recording features unlikely Declaration readers like Marilyn Monroe, Carol Channing and Dr. Ruth. So many of the recordings that I've been privileged to do are really fun and funny, either because of the content itself or the behind the scenes stories--so August has officially been declared (my me :) to be Voice-Over Vault Month...every day (or as often as I can) this month I will post another VO with stories attached. Love to hear your feedback, so write me if you have some...and be gentle with me on the imagery...not sure how to upload audio only, and am learning the video editing software. Video coming in September...enjoy! Copyright Karen-Eileen Gordon, All Rights Reserved.
