Pilot was so busy gabbing on final that he failed to drop the gear.. To those involved in aviation, this is actually more common than you might think. You hear this horn enough times and it becomes background noise. For some it takes bending a prop and possibly replacing an engine and other expensive components to learn this lesson, but learn they do!

ALWAYS FLY WITH A CHECKLIST, PERIOD.

  • haha what a fail put this on fail blog!

  • @GoldenHeartedTV Go ahead and submit it. :)

  • The beeping is because the engine is near or at idle and the gear is still up right?

  • @SubaruB4RSK Yep, that is the "landing configuration" horn indicating to the crew that the gear is still in the stowed position.

    Oops.

  • Landing gear is for sissies anyway. Real men land gear up and then buy a new plane.

  • @RobertGary1

"Many of the world's best pilots have landed gear up." - Citation please.

I understand your lack of want to judge, but I think some things are inexcusable. I will never land gear up, just as I will never take off with contaminated wings or fly overweight.

This is not to say that I do not make mistakes - we are all human - but there are some mistakes that simply have no good reason ever to be made.

  • haha, thats not very smart

    ;)

  • at least there didn't wear out the brakes on that landing #positive thinking

  • I think he was trying for a power off 180. That would explain why hes at idle and so high. The gear up thing? Fail.

  • @mikedamat Yes, I remember that.

  • @streetrace442 Google Chesley Sullenberger.

  • And they walk among us and vote!

  • aaaaaah that hurts in every pilot heart! Idiot!

  • What idiots.

  • There were at least three people in this plane and no one noticed.

A assume that MrSkyGuy was in the back seat?

  • Face Palm.

The extremely unstable approach is the first clue to pilot complacency. Ignoring the gear warning horn: Priceless.
