Dancing at Tarboosh restaurant, as part of Joharah's 2007 Christmas party. Music is "Santa Maria (de Buen Ayres)" by Gotan Project.

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTfNaKBX-WI

Shades of Araby dances a style called "American Tribal Style" which is a modern fusion of classic bellydance with Indian folk dances and Flamenco. ATS was created by Carolena Nericcio of San Francisco.

  • @zeki1919 This is a style called "American Tribal Style" which is a combination of traditional bellydance with Flamenco and Indian dance. We do not claim it is traditional arabic bellydance.

  • Love ATS Tribal Improv! You're great Val. Doesn't matter what style you're dancing, your talent shines!

  • Val... Nice performance! Loved the layback!! :o)

  • Fabulous dancing, to music I really love! It's amazing to see what a beautiful fusion can come of different styles and disciplines. Keep up the wonderful... work? Wrong word, because it doesn't look like work at all! <3

  • @zeki1919 That's kind of funny... "Zeki." Between Sarcasmhime and myself, there is probably about 16 years of Arabic bellydance experience and training, so I'd say we know plenty about "araby belly dance" and are learning more all the time. While ATS may not be what you know as bellydance, we have many Arabic fans, judging from the reaction we get at our shows. Good thing your manners don't reflect the wonderful Egyptians, Lebanese, Persians, Turks and Syrians for whom we've danced.
