During the 1950s, they recorded R&B material as the Four Lovers and as Frankie Valli & The Romans. "Bermuda" and "Spanish Lace" were the first two sides released by Frankie Valli's vocal group calling themselves the Four Seasons. Recorded and released near the end of 1961, these two songs garnered the Four Seasons enough of a following to ignite their career. Dynamic production, exotic themes, and Latin rhythms make these two of the most refreshing and exciting Four Seasons recordings ever produced. By the way, if you share my philosophy, "never grow up, never grow old," come on over to my blog, Shady Dell Music & Memories at www.shadydell.blogspot.com. See you there!

  • I heard this on a "Best of" album or I would never have heard of it. Thanks for posting this lost classic!

  • @Elric33239 I agree, these are two of Frankie's finest. May I also recommend "The Proud One"? Thanks for your comment, my friend!

  • Wow...I had this on a early 4 Seasons album, not VJ or Philips, some obscure lable. Haven't heard since 1965. Thanks.

  • @wolfmantip You are very welcome, my friend. In the 60's I had both of these songs on various artists albums but they were edited versions. I am pleased to have the full length mono versions now. Have a great day!

  • Love "Bermuda". Never hear it anywhere.

I thought "Spanish Lace" would be the same version as Gene McDaniel's tune. Surprised this is a different song.

Thanks so much for the Post, plus the Information you provided us in the Dropdown menu. It's well written.

  • @ASite4u2c Fans of the original Jersey Boys who are willing to leave the beaten path in search of treasure will find what I call "Valli's Peaks," the best of the Four Seasons. Among those lost gems are these Gone sides. Thank you for your kind comments, my friend!

  • @sfratpack Now THAT's taste..."The Proud One" is a totally (and criminally) overlooked side...though, just like both sides of this one I loved it the first time I heard it...thanks for putting this one up...

  • @sfratpack It wasnt a hit next sherry was a number one hit and the rest as they say is history

  • Great "curio". This used to show up on Various Artists albums (like on the Lost Night or Roulette labels). A "throwaway", it was usually the last (or next to the last) cut on the album.

  • Wow! Until now, I hadn't heard either of those two songs since at least 1966 or '67, or maybe '68 at the latest. Thank you very much for posting them.

  • @wolfmantip -Same here- and the version I heard was edited down to about two minutes!
