After 63 days, 3,530 miles, three deserts and four time zones the Gumpathon team have all exceeded their wildest expectations. However for Mark Ormrod the run has been a massive personal achievement. After being injured in Afghanistan in 2007, he was told that he may never walk again. However the triple amputee has run five miles on some days of the Gumpathon. Mark spoke to British Forces News about the challenges he has faced along the way.

In the early 1980’s I was inspired by Terry Fox who ran across Canada after losing a leg to cancer. I then embarked on a 4,000 run around the coast of the UK in 1989 to raise money for cancer research. But you Mark Ormrod have completely blown me away. You are an amazing man whose courage has inspired us all. I hope a film is made about you so more people will be inspired by what you have achieved. Well done.
