A Rigged Up computer Hard Drive Functioning as A Speaker and playing a bunch of Bass songs clips of the songs only the best bass parts, these songs were only used to test the bass effect on the read/write arm of the drive and as you can see its a great show, if anyone has good bass songs for me to try on this in a future video please let me know, give me the artist and song titles, or a link to a video you may have made that has lots of bass, any bass below 20Hz works the best I dont have an ocilloscope or sound generators this is all trial and error
Note: the songs used in this video sound like crap on here thru the hard drive speaker and thru my cheap ass video camera.

Here is A of the songs I used:

1. Get Low by Lil jon & the eastside boyz feat the yin yang twins

2. Akon & Young Jeezy - Soul Survivor

3. Bass Testers - Worlds Deepest Bass (Extreme woofer test)
4. Chemical Bros. - Bass Excursion Test

5. 3 kinds of bass - I found this one on a website but the site kept locking me out and forcing me to sign in but i was able to activate the player and I tried to register but they never sent me my activation email

About this time @ 3:49 into the video youll hear a door close yes im on aol
6. Rave - Gone in 60 Seconds Techno bass bassgasm ultimate woofer test (yeah im reading it off my iPod)

7. subwoofer Test Music - Bass Test Tecno Mega mix. i think they misspelled tecno its "Techno" but who knows
8. The audio from a youtube video I dont know who does it but it has good bass so I used it saya annihilation
Total test tracks 8 these were only used to test the effecvt on the hard drive arm if anyone has tracks that I can try i may try it in a future video

Got some time to kill? add an annotation of two to this video but please dont spam go to this link to add an annotation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfUMRmZIkhs&layer_token=78b77ef8e829009f

  • the sound is coming from the electric motor that drives the read/write arm. right?

  • @benposeno

Yup the sound is coming from the metal of the whole drive but it's generated by the coil that runs the read/write head. Try this and post a video. you will need a dead HDD not a working one.

  • Is that hard drive modified with a speaker inside of it, or is the music coming from the sound made by the read/write head?

  • @DSFanboy360

Hard drive modified to act as a speaker. what you are hearing is the vibration of the read write arm. the voice coil is acting like the voice coil on a speaker so there are no speakers here just the guts of a hard drive.

  • looks like it is working!!!!!lol

  • @TheNascarfan14

Yup its the real thing. I have a better one though and a better camera theres a comment above from me that has 3 videos you can look up to see a better HD speaker.

  • it looks like a vu meter

  • I wonder what the ohms load / frequency response is on this. I'd hate to blow up an amp. The low freqs at 1:30+ look cool!

  • hahah fucking coooooooooool

  • @YoUrEDeStiNy

Basically you just hook wires to the 2 points that run to the voice coil (the part that moves the arm) and then hook the other ends of the wires to your stereo or an amp. use an expendable amp or know what your doing.
