  • How would you know unless you see it first hand? Any fool would know that the irish press is tightly controlled to the point where it's a joke.

  • Also, you've already stated that you arer nowhere near the place and don't care. What do you know about the locals? I know more than you and i'm English. At least i've made the effort to go out there and talk to the people.

  • Hmmn, i always find the xenophobia defence funny. If the English aren't wanted, why are your government bending over backwards to to let an anglo/dutch company take your resources, gain massive profits which they pay no tax to ireland for and hire foreign staff?

    Your argument is flawed.

    As are you.

  • It doesn't effect me directly so i don't care? Hmm, that's what shell are hoping for, apathy. It'syour gas that's being stolen, it's going to england and europe not ireland. The money and resources are being siphoned out of your country andpeople'sland is being stolen in the proccess.

The gardai are beating up old men and women defending their own homeland. That's not a good job, and not the job they're supposed to do.

I care becuase the right thing to do is to stand up against injustice.

  • Well, we could all give up, sit back and let corporations bully, steal and rape our lands. We could put our heads down and let corrupt officials get away with it. Or you can make a stand for the rights that people over the years have died for. We can show solidarity with our fellow man, stand up to bullies, work together for the common good. We do it to win of course, but if we lose we can at least turn to our children and say we were part of the solution and not the problem. Why don't you?

  • its getting built tough shit. Protesters loose time to go and do something productive for the nation.

  • all these vids are the same, krusties from everywhere but mayo looking for a fight with the guards. theres very little mention of the cause locals are fighting for. i feel for the locals because of blow ins coming in with their own agenda

  • I yeah, your right. ONE person was jailed for assault. She slaped a Gardaí after he abused her, self defense, not assault. But thats not ''so many of them''. Its one. She has been to jail 4 times this year alone, she probably sick of the abuse. Listen man, Im finished talking with you anyway. You have no interest in rational debate, so good luck. Enjoy your life

  • Maura Harrington was in May of this year sentenced to a custodial sentence for assaulting a garda. I make up no facts. I'm perfectly okay with being complacement if that means respecting law and order.

  • **Maybe your ok with being complacent**

  • Maybe your ok with complacent in everything thats happens and trust thsi current government, if so, I feel bad for you, me and the future generations of Ireland. You have been manipulated and spew out nonsense consistently. You clearly dont really care, and are just looking for a pointless debate. I wanted to inform you, and never thought people had such warped perceptions of reality, well there you go. If you want to talk, we will, otherwise, start looking for the truth friend.

  • Ive been attacked by the Gardaí, tried to make a complaint and it was ignored. Why dont you go to Rossport and see for yourself. You seem to ignore everything I say and just make up your own facts, its frustrating.

  • Your facts are wrong. Can you supply the information backing up your claims that people are being charged with assault? Most (if not ALL) are charged with the 'Public order act'. Ive protested in Dublin and Mayo, Ive been attacked by the Gardaí and they tried to arrest me. Im sure any assalut charges are trumped up, fake (ive yet to hear of any assault charges). Why would anyone assault the Gardaí when there are hundreds of em, no logic, it doesnt happen.

  • Peaceful protesters? Can you explain why so many of them were charged with assault in local district courts? - let me guess, the judicary are in on this big conspiracy with Shell. Also regarding Gardai attacking - all of the over 150 complaints sent to the independent ombudsman have been dismissed, with one outstanding.

  • You said something about the protest changing? There are international groups and academics against the police brutality, national groups and academics against the gas giveaway and local groups against the dangerous pipeline. But they all tie in and support each other, they are all against the disregard for safety and the resources used by the state to force the project through and against how the state lets Shell do whatever it wants in Mayo
