Tall in the saddle, we spend Christmas Day, driving the cattle over snow
covered-plains.
All of the good gifts given today, ours is the sky and the wide open range.
Back in the cities they have different ways, football and eggnog and Christmas
parades.
I'll take my saddle, I'll take the reins, It's Christmas for cowboys wide-open
plains.

A campfire for warmth as we stop for the night, the stars overhead are
Christmas tree lights.
The wind sings a hymn as we bow down to pray, It's Christmas for cowboys,
wide-open plains.

Tall in the saddle we spend Christmas Day, driving the cattle over
snow-covered plains.
All of the good gifts given today, ours is the sky and the wide open range.
It's Christmas for cowboys, wide open plains

  • Hope you folks had a Great New Year... RIP John, we miss you... from the home of the Daddy of em All...

  • omg! brilliant!

  • Merry Christmas from all us cowboys in Colorado!!

  • Great sound...great recording :)))

  • Why is it such a simply lovely song as this can make one so emotional?I come back to it every year and it still has the same effect on me..its not just because John sang it,and yes I was a big fan of his,and I enjoy his other Christmas songs but not in the same way.Could it be the fact that cowboys have to work(like many others in various jobs)but they are happy with their lot and enjoy the work and being as one with nature.I do hope so.Christmas is way over commercialised IMHO. Happy Christmas

  • @998711 John didn't write this song, Steve Weisberg Johns lead guitar player wrote this song.

    Psalm 95:1-2

    Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD;

let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before him with thanksgiving

and extol him with music and song.
