Established in December 2005, the Dror for the Wounded Foundation targets severely wounded soldiers in Israel that have the greatest financial need. These soldiers are often the ones who participate in the most dangerous assignments. The Foundation recognizes that although taking care of the wounded soldiers is very important to the government, its budget is limited. Thus the Foundations purpose is to supplement government services that are currently being provided. The Foundation assists the soldiers with medical treatments, psychiatric services, legal proceedings, etc. It also assists soldiers with improved conditions to reintegrate into civilian life by assisting them with expenses associated with studies, employment and independent living. The Dror for the Wounded Foundation makes a difference in the lives of the wounded soldiers in Israel. On February 2, 2004, Dror Dagan, an Israeli soldier in the Duvdevan special forces unit, was shot twice from point blank range in the eye and in the chest while apprehending a terrorist leader. He vowed to assist other wounded soldiers so that they would not experience the same challenges that he suffered through in seeking aid from the government. Dror believes he survived for a reason. So do we. http://www.drorfoundation.org
