  • This is an amazing video. The problem of early extension is one I have suffered for years, yet this is the first video I have seen which identifies the main cause as being foot and leg action. This tip and thought has helped me incredibly. Thank you.

  • I just saw something very similar to this on Titleist's TPI site. The same concept of keeping that left butt cheek against the wall behind the golfer (how Titleist did it). I've been working that and this for a few weeks and it has improved my ball striking. I used this tip of rotating the left knee out and around on the course when the swing was so-so and it made a dramatic difference. One simple move made a big impact (literally) on my game!!

  • Thank you for this - I've been looking for this solution for ages :)

  • I have done this for years and never found anyone explain why I do this until now! When I rotate my left knee around towards the target should the weight stay in the ball of my left foot or does it move a little towards the heel? Great advice and thank you.

  • Love this tip, well explained.

However, what role does flexibility/fitness play in holding the tush line?

While swing mechanics are important, it seems like a guy with tight hamstrings for example would have a very difficult time being able to execute this.

  • Great tip. Have you ever looked at the left shoe of a pro after his swing while he is holding his finish? The shoe is contorted or twisted and this move is why. Yes they post up on the left leg but there is alot of rotational force as well.

  • I spent the year working on keeping knee flex and the right knee stationary, and it was working well. I saw this thing about the tush line and it fit my idea of keeping knee flex. Then I added that little part about rotating the left knee out and WOW!! My ball striking probably improved a bit, but my accuracy when up tremendously. I also disagree w/ secrettogolf below in that it is NOT a lot to think about and actually is a simple swing key to find my swing out on the course.

  • This is something u don't want to be thinking of well your swinging. You have to think from the ground up = YOUR FEET ROLLING.This is what gets everything else moving knees, thighs, but and hips.this is what Mr.Nicklaus reccomends and you have to think very little about doing. If I did what U say I would forget I needed to swing.

  • very nice tip, i have to remember that.
