IPod feature is wonderful (one of the main reasons I got this), plus you can tell its the cadillac of swings. Has timer for music, sounds of nature, classical music, heartbeat, and folk tunes to choose from. There's even a vibration feature in seat that I haven't figured out yet. Its so plush and cushy.

Mine has that little mechanical sound, but it really is not that bad. I think the sound here is a little amplified in the video. I think that sound is temporary when its transitioning to different swaying speeds. Yes, you are correct that it's not keeping a constant speed...it's a soothing center, not a swing (although it does swing/sway). It is intended to mimic the motions of what baby would have felt in mother's womb which is not a consistent motion. Once mine gets going, the sound fades.

I love this swing and so does my son...one great feature that I haven't seen mentioned in any of the comments is that you can put your car seat in place of the swing chair. If you bring baby in from the car asleep, no need to move him/ her, just snap car seat in place of the swing seat. I have a Graco Snugride seat. Genius!! Getting any swing is a gamble, you never know if your little one is going to like it until they try it...but, since you know you're gonna get one, definitely get this one!

Thanks for the heads up. It does sound lie a dying cow. I think I'll go with the Fisher Price swing instead.

I'm so sorry you've had bad motors, that really is quite loud and pretty much unuseable. It appears that it isn't even keeping a constant speed either. We have the same swing and have had no problems with it..yet! I hope we don't, we love the swing so far.

That really sucks ours doesn`t do that at all, it glides very smooth. That`s not so much disappointing for the product but for Graco as such a large company to not send you a new one or a credit

I have the same swing and the motor makes the exact same sound AND it stalls in the middle of a swing. Fortunately I purchased the extended warranty so they refunded my purchase price.

I think I got a headache from watching that thing swing back and forth. And that motor...what Chinese-made junk! Not worth the $170 price tag I've seen on it. All it does is move the baby back and forth, no real swing motion. That motor sounds like a dying cow. Poor baby.
