Im thinking of buying a knife made of 62 HRC steel. Does anyone know if this is good steel that wont bend or break, and maintain sharpness after three months?
@VlastaChlasta Feed in feet a minute and speed is in revolutions per minutes. Combined rates will give you best performance vs. longetivity. Different cutters are designed to work differently.
coolant is overrated. With modern tooling technology and coatings, coolant is just another useless expense. MQL(minimum quantity lubrication) is the way to go if your looking to lube the cutting edge and provide some cooling. 1000 psi coolant is so last century
As workederk said, if you hit a hot tool like that with coolant, it would break. It does look like the machine has an air blast, although it may mostly be to blow chips out of the way of the cutter so they don't mess up the finish.

what speeds an feeds are being used on the 44 & 62hrc?
Dia of cutter and how deep was it?
No i don't do milling as my day job, i'm just trying to learn something lol.
Over half of our work is 58-62hrc and we grind most of it, but i think milling is the way forward for us, for half our work anyway.

Flood coolant would fracture the tool.
