  • Look I hope people read this, but do not use garlic with the oil and water spray. It killed the aphids...and the plants, and the fish. I had to clean the system and saved some of the plants and fish. I don't know if my concentration was too high but it burned alot of the plants so I lost alot of them. Really upset about it but all learning. Plus, those aphids are already coming back! I need a good recipe to kill insects but not fish. Anybody out there have some ideas?

  • great video amigo, i sympathise with your setup problems, i heard s half a tbsp organic biodegradable soap (ivory)/gallon, with oil, chillies and garlic will do those pesky aphids. the soap won't kill your fish, I hope:) how much (tbsp) and how often do you feed your fish?

  • Listen to me! I really screwed up. All my plants got really screwed up by the garlic. It burned the leaves and then rained here in Texas and washed the garlic into the system. I don't know if it did this but I lost 5 tilapia overnight and they started to rot. I had to reset the whole system with new water and cut off all the dead plant parts. Garlic not a good idea. The system is slowly coming back though. Such a stupid mistake

  • for aphids try companion planting marigold or citronella, or get some ladybugs.

  • @commdiver81 You should have a off white/ tan liquid the next morning. I used like 20 peppers in 4 gallons, but I was told you cant harm plants with them, so the sky is the limit. Spray your plants daily (twice a day is better) over the span of 2 weeks, or until you get bored of it.

My aphids left, but I still have the spider mites, I plan on buying predatory spidermites to keep them in check pretty, soon, run a google search for them I believe they also work on aphids.

  • @commdiver81 I have a bit of a spider mite infection myself, I had aphids but they are gone, here is what I did:

I got those little orange peppers, you know the nuclear habenero chillies.. put them in a blender (try not to inhale when you lift off the lid, I almost died) and put them in a coffee filter so you made sort of a tea bag, soak it in water overnight.

  • Check out Diatomaceous Earth for your bug problem.. Shouldn't hurt the fish.. Safe to eat!!

  • @commdiver81

lady bugs eat aphids hundreds of them a day

u can buy them online they are cheap and organic and you can breed new ones easy

  • get hold of Murray Hallam and talk to him about it!
