AFRICAN GROOVE (INCORPORATING 5-WAY INDEPENDENCE)

In this African based groove I am playing the following:
Right Foot: A shuffle rhythm on my bass drum while playing my right hi-hat with the heel of my right foot on every down beat.
Left Foot: The toes of my left foot are playing Quarter Note Triplets on my left foot cowbell whereas the heel of my left foot is playing inverted Quarter Note Triplets on my left foot jamblock.
Right Hand: Playing an African Six cowbell pattern on my main cowbell, (Mounted on my bass drum)
Left Hand: Playing Half Note Triplets on the large conga (Tumba), then playing a Cuban influenced pattern between both congas etc.

  • Chris. Are you triggering your hats with the heel of your kick drum foot?

    Amazing man.

  • Yeh, my right foot is playing the kick with my toes (Shuffle pattern) and the right hi-hat with my heel (1/4 Notes)

My left foot is playing 1/4 Note triplets with my toes and inverted 1/4 Note triplets with my heel.

On top of this I'm playing several polyrhythms with my hands.

    Thanks hachewie !!

    Chris.
