Residents of Public Housing Speak Their Concerns

With the Atlanta Housing Authority's plans to demolish public housing also comes a wave of evictions. Situations that had been accepted by the management are now grounds for eviction. Those who are compliant and eligible for Housing Choice vouchers are not being given clear information. We went to Hollywood Courts and Bowen Homes in Atlanta and spoke to residents about their concerns. This is another effort to protect the rights of the residents who are being displaced due to loss of work or the proposed demolitions of their homes.

Wait, so "white privilege" is responsible for blacks having kids out of wedlock and lazy fathers not sticking around to raise their children? Also not all whites lived in the lap of luxury, the Irish/Italian immigrants were treated like absolute shit but you don't hear them whining about it today. There is so much assistance out there for blacks these days: welfare, affirmative action, school scholorships, rent free housing, etc. that there simply isn't an exscuse anymore.

@LyricSundiata I'm white and I didn't have access to "white privilege"! I grew up dirt poor. I got evicted from my first home because I couldn't pay the rent. I decided to do something about it, and I did. Don't pretend that racial disparity is caused by racial reasons. It is caused by people like you telling blacks that it's not their fault. If you assign them no responsibility for their lives, they will take no responsibility for making their lives better, you poverty pimp.

People always are quick to criticize and say what they would do, yet they probably couldnt last a DAY in the shoes of a black, poor person who still is resilient enough to make a way, somehow. We all dont have access to white privilege, two parent/two income homes, and the tools most deem as vital for "survival" in a world shaped by white supremacy, consciously and mostly subconsciously.
