Nancy Bird Walton was Australia's first professional aviatrix. A fully qualified pilot by the age of 19, she became known as "Angel of the Outback" for her work with the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) - www.flyingdoctor.net
She went on to become Australia's "First Lady of aviation" in the 1970s and in 2008, Qantas will name its first Airbus A380 in her honour.

In this video she explains how, whilst stationed at Bourke in 1938, she flew equipment out to Ivanhoe to save the life of prematurely-born Jack Stanmore.

Music by Merlijn Twaalfhoven www.twaalfhoven.net
Nancy's 2002 book is entitled "My God! It's a woman : the inspiring story of one woman's courage and determination to fly" (Harper-Collins Publishers ISBN 0-7322-7370-6)

  • Dear All,

I have some questions about psychology:

    (1) Why do girls want to fly high and become a pilot?

    (2) How can flying benefit a female’s personal life?

    (3) Through flying, what have female pilots proved and demonstrated to the world? or, What kind of social value(s) have female pilots brought up?

    (4) what are similar and different between Nancy Bird Walton (Australia) and Amelia Earhard (USA) in term of personality and character?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your ideas!!!
