  • If all Foot Guards regiments are represented on parade at the same time, they would form up with the Grenadier Guards to the left of the line, then Scots Guards, Welsh Guards Irish Guards and Coldstream Guards. This is exactly as is depicted by the DOM's as they are shown in the video.

  • @bozzinev

Yes I know but aren't the Irish Guards senior to the Welsh Guards, the youngest of the five?

  • emptyangel

I think you will find that the DOM's are seen in Brigade order, Grenadiers, Scots, Welsh, Irish, Coldstream.

The way they are viewed is correct.

  • @bozzinev

I was always under the impression it was Grenadiers, Scots, IRISH, WELSH, Coldstream?

    Hmm...

  • The DOM Scots Guards should be in the middle, and the Welsh Guards DOM should be to the left of the DOM Grenadier Guards. When marching together the order is Gren,Welsh,Scots,Irsh and Coldstream, or from their right to left if marching in line.

  • @adelaide102

It's funny because that's the same order in which the bands return to the barracks.

    I wonder why.

  • All the Bands have different traditions, we may wear similar uniforms however each of the 5 bands are very separate units combining on days like this.

The Directors marching only happens on the actual day of the Troop, which perhaps is why you have never seen it before.

  • @louislungbubble

    Nicely spotted!

  • never seen the drs of music marching together like this ..also ,scots guards musicians carry their cornets and trombones differently at ease from the rest, some of the bands have music cards, some not .just an observation..marty

  • This is highly unusual. All the bands marching in public without playing one note. Thanks for the notes about the directors of music.
