UPDATED: Thank you so much for asking me about clay. I wasn't happy that they said something on other site, like "Mall is wrong to use $%#$@ epoxy-resin clay without GLOVES 'coz it's dangerous! She should need to learn!" I was like, "Whaat?" That made me sad & disappointed. Hey, I mean that it's not a epoxy-resin from autobody car parts like two-part glue variety (not craft-sculpture category).
Before you guys misunderstand, I tell you the truth, I am always careful and observant to read art materials / crafts before using. I used MAGIC SCULP, it's safe. Visit to read more details / information about Magic Sculp http://www.magicsculp.com/faq's.htm
Magic Sculp is just like Apoxie or Milliput (two-part epoxy-resin mixture clays), which I made small ears for my first Mellow custom toy, The Midnight Garden of Great Owl.
So my skin is not sensitive to the chemical composition. I'm not only one, there are many professional / amateur sculptors in public sites, who can use Magic Sculp / Apoxie without gloves because their skins aren't allergic, that's quite obvious. If your skin is SENSITIVE, then use GLOVES, be sure to test it before using clay. If you're unsure, get to know more information on Magic Sculp site and Apoxie site.
BEFORE YOU START WORKING ON YOUR FIRST CUSTOM TOY, I recommend you to read all instructions about making custom toy, here's a link: http://forums.kidrobot.com/viewtopic.php?t=56606 That's how, where and what I learned from KidRobot masters / toy makers before I worked on my first custom Owl toy.
Don't judge nor misunderstand me because of the material I use on my sculpture. You can ask me kindly before making final judgement. But for my own rights and art style, I can't share my secret art techniques / materials. No one is perfect but importantly, we must take care of our health and of course, we must be CAREFUL. Better learn, study and research about materials before using.
Just like " Better safe than sorry ".
Thank you so much.

TAKE NOTE: If you have a fast internet connection, I recommend you to use HD video (720p) on YouTube so the HD video image looks beautifully professionally clearer. When you have a slow internet, please change it from 720p to 480p / 360p. Enjoy viewing!
I worked on my commissioned Yoka toy for my client Brenda. The Yoka Toy named "Xiong Mao Bao Bao", which means panda baby in mandarin chinese. It's pronounced "shong" with a long "o" sound.
I filmed this video with my camera Panasonic GF1 + Lumix 20mm f/1.7 + Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 (both handheld & tripod) and Nokton 50mm f/1.1 (tilt-hand by my hands). For editing the movie, I used iMovie. The song "Inside my Mind" (Blue Skies) by Groove Armada.
Please visit my art blog to read more information about Yoka http://nnayam.blogspot.com/2010/09/yoka.html
Enjoy viewing!
UPDATED FOR GERMANY: I'm surprised that my Yoka video blocks in your Germany country only. I can do nothing with YouTube because it says, " No action is required on your part. Your video is still available everywhere not listed above. In some cases ads may appear next to your video. "
No worries, please visit my Vimeo site, all people from Germany can watch my Yoka video, here's a link: http://vimeo.com/15381451

nyoku111 11 months ago
@nyoku111 Hmm, I can't remember how much time I worked on it. Maybe less than 2 - 3 weeks (because I was busy in doing other running errands.)

if you dont mind me asking what did you use for the fur texture? was it magic smooth? or was it a thin layer of magic sculpt?
