This independent short film was made by a group of journalists concerned about freedom of expression in Venezuela. It includes footage never before seen outside of Venezuela and contains videoclips that date back to the year 2001.

It is presented here by the New York-based Human Rights Foundation (www.thehrf.org) as part of its Free RCTV campaign to document the Venezuelan government's ongoing assault on freedom of the press in that country. We believe the test of democracy is freedom of criticism.

By direct order of the Venezuelan president, the last remaining nation-wide independent television station in Venezuela, RCTV, was shut down on May 28, 2007. We invite you to join us in saying no to censorship. Visit www.FreeRCTV.com to find out more.

  • Did you watch the video?

Did you see him speaking against the media and insigting riots against people that dare to critize?

I cant believe how stupid people can be when some one claims to defend the poor. Look at what hes done to Venezuela in the las decade hes a fucking dictator.

Maybe you should move to Cuba (where i was born) to experience the joys of state run media and a dictator for life telling you how great everything is when every one is starving and no one can say anything about it.

  • ¡Lo certifico! así es la crisis en las telecomunicaciones.

D: Nos queda el 12 de Febrero y el 7 de Octubre. S:

  • @tigerhawk474 Why is the inteligence services of a country hiring journalists? 90% of news from the ven. oposition are aimed to make Chávez look bad, all fabricated and manipulated. jefferson "any country that pretends to be free being ignorant expects what it isn`t what will never be " if it doesnt match the english quotation that only means i am translating it from spanish(language you should learn before speaking about Chávez) franco?? "speak falsehoods" learn spanish then use your head.

  • @tigerhawk474 "I feel so great about myself, that, as a gift, I think I will allow you to be my charges until... 2030.." well, as a brainwashed american that you are, obviously you don´t even know what you`re talking about, when he says he`ll be in presendency until 2030,he means he will run presency each election until 2030, "mao?? stalin??? poor ignorant you lack on critical thinking. why not to think the us gov. wants him to look bad? just get into the CIA web page they hire journalists --

  • @alexmanfredini100 Also, he is extending his OWN term in presidency. This, truly, is the road to a dictatorship, as he, and only he, could possibly "know best"....

I feel so great about myself, that, as a gift, I think I will allow you to be my charges until... 2030..

Seriously, look at the pattern.. And also, just because someone would agree with this, no matter the editing ,though oddly, if you do not do the Hugo Chavez edit, it is apparently wrong, the lack critical thinking..

  • @alexmanfredini100They speak falsehoods because they disagree with him. No,he is what he seems to be, only in that he has as much belief in his people for self determination, and liberty as Franco,Stalin, and Mao seemed to have

"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it. "Thomas Jefferson"

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."Benjamin Franklin

  • Man. this is crap, this video was edited to make Chávez look bad, I feel sorry for the poor idiots without critical thinking that believe this.

  • POR UNA VENEZUELA LIBRE... POR UNA LATINOAMERICA LIBRE... LUCHEMOS PARA QUE LACRAS COMO ESTA DESAPAREZCAN

  • @jweb8000 In a democracy the majority rule, I am sure most people in Cuba wanna be ABLE to leave and enter their country as they please. Cuba is more close to a republic in which the politicians choose who is the leader of the country just like in USA. Anyways RCTV owners don't want to give in because they would lose all their millions and that's in a capitalist point of view.
