  • I want to play piano like that when I'm an elder.

  • Super jazz

  • Great jazz ensembles. Like best friends. I know where you're going. You know where I'm going. And we'll meet there. When we get there we'll have fun, and in what seems like so little time we move on. I know where you're going. You know where I'm going. And we'll meet again.

I listen to Jazz like this and I remember how dearly I love those that I love. Because only they go on the same journey, enjoy it with you, and yet painfully in something like body and soul live on different streams.

  • Duo from heaven absolutely! So strong and creative.. We miss you Hank!

  • Beautiful and inspiring. Live a life like that.

  • The first time I ever played with him, he came to one of my gigs and entered through the back. No one knew he was there. I'll never forget it. We were playing Sandu, I was blowing and I had my head down as I often do. I never saw him coming. I finished my last chorus and this incredible wall of sound was right in my face. He was maybe five feet away. I could feel every note in my chest. Go hear him play and sit right up front. You'll see what I'm talking about. :P

  • I've known him for years and through all of his evolution as a player, that's the one thing that hasn't changed: amazing tone. His conceptual thing has evolved, too, but it was still very much formed even in his younger days. He is truly a giant of jazz and—you said it best yourself—in a category all his own.
