  • Martin Vs. Gibson

    Martin owns Gibson

  • Shoulda picked up a Gibson Advanced Jumbo to compare with. Had one kick my d28s butt and i took the gibson home! A j45 is no match for a big martin dread, but the AJ is a monster bluegrass guitar

  • HD 28 all the way . I have both The J45 Plays like a China Made Guitar.

  • @sbigglesby I say the opposite the martin sounds bigger and fuller and always do but j45,s have a brighter more mid range sound good for lead and looking fancy lol . I grew up with my dad playing a j45 and grandfather playing a d35.His j45 was a dog but I own gibsons it,s just impossible touch my d28 for this kind of playing period

  • GIBSON J 45!!!! FOREVER

  • The Gibson sounds sort of muffled. the notes don't seem to jump out as much as the Martin. Could be a lot of reasons. Different types and gauges of strings, old shopworn strings ect...

  • Martin HD-28 !!!

  • @snapperjohn1000 Santa Cruz are very nice guitars. This Hd-28 doesn't have a LSH. The Tony Rice Santa Cruz does. LSH just adds a touch more deep tone. I have a HD-28 sound can't be beat. I have a HD-16R LSH it has a deep tone great mids and highs. I like it better then my HD-28, because of the LSH. It has all the vol. you need. By the way Gibson is over priced junk. Santa Cruz cost more then a Gibson, or at lease as much. Depending on what model. Tony Rice Santa Cruz is no better then my HD-16

  • I agree with doormat.. the J45 was clearly not in tune properly.. although I would favor the martin regardless.. tone is tone and martin had the edge.. if Gibson does one thing well its the Les Paul...Martin is simply a superior acoustic .. if they both cost the same my money is going to go to a Martin

  • funny...these were my final 2 guitars on my last purchase.bought an hd28.far more volume and a buttersmooth action. the gibbie also made the final cut last time but was beat out by a taylor because it was better for stage due to the es electronics.if i ever buy another acoustic it would be a j45 or 50.they are quieter and a little light sounding until they break in.when they do you realize why theyve been around since the 40s.best guitar i never owned.
