This is an all-electric kit car that used batteries salvaged from the EV-1, General Motors' electric car from the 1990's. Built by Richard Slatin in Arizona in October, 2006.

  • The first build used Trojan deep-cycle batteries. This was upgraded to the Ovonic NiMH batteries that were salvaged from the EV-1 project. A small supply of the actual batteries was located, and enough were revived to be operational. Due to the high amp draw under usage, NiMHs generate a lot of heat. The heat was removed with forced air cooling based upon evaporative-cooling principles. The car easily exceeded the 40-mile range target, and was regularly driven at freeway speeds of 65mph+.
