Why are the Brazilian Girls the Brazilian Girls if the band is from NY?

That intro, with the over dramatic music as the neon sign flips over and flies at the screen, always gives me goose bumps, and sets the tone of the movie from that point on: eccentric and over dramatic.

I've watched it on cable twice this week, I only noticed the second time that "Information Retrieval" is their sanitized way of saying "torture". Durrr...

@danilasad it's part of the irony. It's called brazil because it has nothing to do with brazil.
-
I don't think you should have edited out the beginning intro of the clouds because that really helps set the irony into the film. the time with no day month or year, light out when it's late, all add to the ironic sense of the film

@danilasad It's the song that always plays, especially in his fantasy moments. It's a romantic conceptual ideal of a place where we have all the things missing from our lives. There are about a million live versions of the song on youtube.

Ahh, yes, the western media's favorite propaganda guidebook, I remember it well. "Have you ever actually SEEN a terrorist?"
-
@danilasad Gilliam decited on that title after seeing a man sitting on a cold english beach, listening to this song on a radio.

why this Film is named Brazil?
What do you believe is behind this recent increase in terrorists bombings?

I liked this a LOT more than 1984. While it had the same theme, Brazil wasn't as bleak and depressing, and had a good sense of humor (albeit dark). Was also proof that J. Pryce is one of the most underrated actors EVER.
