  • These days because of the banned use of DDT in crop production all birds of prey are on the increase. I used to work on a big inductrial estate - Burnt Mills in Basildon, Essex and the lab I worked at had a little lawn out the back nesteled in between warehouses and work units and a Sparrow hawk was frequently seen by all suddenly swooping down amongst the buidling trying to take Sparrows and Stralings during the day as we sat out there having tea and dinner breaks

  • @someblokecalleddave1 Hi Dave, The banning of DDT was one of the major milestones in falcon/bird of prey conservation. Thanks for watching

    Best wishes Richard

  • I think i've heard a Sparrowhawk, they sound very distinctive, but i have never seen one. Don't know how popular they are in England ?

  • @johnnycheck99 Thanks for the comment, I assume by popular you mean common? these are one of the commonest of the Hawk species in the uk.

    Best wishes Richard
