Wow your devotion to the tune shows. Having met Pat a number of times and attending clinics through the community college taught by him, I know that Pat would be impressed with how you've learned one of his tunes and also very grateful that you took the time to learn it!!!

amazing job! my only suggestions would be to work on reducing the scraping sound of sliding hand positions. but really this is a minor criticism and you should be proud!

Great job Phil!!! Been waiting a long time for someone better then me to tackle this. Would you be willing to post a tutorial showing the fingering? There really isn't any Pat Kirtley video to learn from.

I think you did a splendid job on that tune. I haven't tackled that one yet because it sounded like a I'd have to use my left thumb to finger bass notes (which I can't do). But I thought you did a great job on a tough tune.

Thanks. I can relate...for years I only played strumming tunes but was always intrigued by fingerstyle. Guys like Chet Atkins, Leo Kottke, John Fahey, JT, Croce, etc. all inspired me.
My advice is to pick a tune you love, get the tab, and just brute force through it. It'll take some persistence, but you WILL develop the muscle memory and your thumb and fingers WILL learn to move to the rhythm of the base line. It's very very satisfying to get a tune to come together. You can do it!

That was briliant mate. Can you tell me where i can get the tab for it ?

Thanks much - the TAB that I used (and found very accurate) is published in MelBay's "Master Anthology of Fingerstyle Guitar Solos" - Volume One.
The MelBay product number is: MB98370BCD (Google it to find sources). Also, the ISBN No. is: 0-7866-5290-X
enjoy!
